Rose Like Smoke
04:48
|
|||
What’s life but the promise of love?
We rose like smoke only to fall with
The weight of the world.
Settle down boy, come down girl
Let loose the bearing rein,
Bow to no one but yourself.
I’m not the same,
No I’m not the same.
We rose like smoke.
He said, she said
You’re better off by yourself.
So let loose the bearing rein.
As we the stood beneath the streetlight
With hands held tight around your waist,
and the rose reflection in the puddle
informed the greater space,
that sometimes the fear of being
let go is stronger than –
Are you there now?
Are you there now?
And we rose like smoke.
He said, she said
You’re better off by yourself.
So let loose the bearing rein.
Sometimes the fear of being let go is stronger than…

The Once Was Enough
03:15
|
|||
Maybe I’m too – never mind.
Maybe I’ll see you in the morning.
When light creeps through the blinds.
Sun, kiss, surprise.
So delicate on skin,
Wanna taste it again.
Don’t wake me up I’m dreaming.
Don’t let me see the morning, alone.
Don’t let me do it again,
The once was enough.
Lately I’m nothing.
I only learned to love
with all of my heart.
But I never learned to trust.
Is all that I deserve, everything I’ve lost?
Cause everything I feared of,
Came true am I the cause?

You Tried
03:37
|
|||
Listen as the rain would fall,
And the sweet sounds of outside
Spoke in whispers and said you tried.
Blow a kiss I’ll catch it,
Write hello in condensation
For the times when you can’t say it.
And all the times just lying there
I was okay to just lie down
Cause even angels need their rest.
Lie down with me.
And what a shame to just forget
The way we felt on the day we met.
Now it’s just a memory,
Now that you’re away from me
But I’m close enough to always push away.
But in those moments I knew
That was a different side I could see through,
And birds might sing our tune again.
But it was hard for me to know
Cause you were always afraid to show.
But you’re love to me was like the sun,
Block the light and I won’t grow.
In a different place,
In a separate space,
I know that this could be a thing
Cause I’ve never felt what I’m feeling.
Lie down with me.

Silhouette
02:13
|
|||
The face of a man
Steps out from his silhouette.
The sun breaks the clouds,
And the light over his left shoulder
Peeks around to clear his path.
That’s what I feel like,
That’s what I feel like.
Wear that smile with pride,
Stand up straight – be your grandad’s grandson.
But do you feel alright?
Cause if you don’t,
Know that it’s alright.
Cause fuck that front with your hood up,
Zipped up, fists in pockets I know that they’re clenched up.
Cause that’s what I feel like,
That’s what I feel like.
Beat around the bush,
Pat on the back like a slap,
A wet size 5 straight to the calf on a Sunday morning,
Folks on the side-line yawning
Stick that point so it’s over.
We’re back in the gaff at last
But your heart feels damp, brave face, don’t ask its grand
Cause chaps just chat when pints are passed.
But breath our brother those days won’t last.
From chasing tigers taming wolves
To one-punch knockouts in pubs and fractured skulls
To boys laid out in coffins
‘another gone but not forgotten’
Another final feeling felt and family longing.
Cause our dad’s and grandad's were far from grand
But not a –
Was given to the feelings they had.
But we’re a different generation of lads
So here’s the plate, step up and forget the past.
Cause it’s your chance and mine to let pride resign
And cry in front of your son and let him know it’s alright,
Cause this isle is drenched
With no tears of men who could never open up
About the shit in their head
I'm not saying they’re bad, not saying they’re weak
I’m just done with this bollocks of not being able to speak
So martyr me, pull me apart and scarper
But fuck this place it must think nothing of me.

Cityscape the Ballet
04:52
|
|||
And so, it stands
Like a bouquet of sorrys,
at the balcony soiree.
Where cracked tiles make shapes
Like real smiles, the ones
That haven’t been seen for a while.
Blue sky turned to night
With a fistful of insight and mild crimes.
A blank page to write the mindset
But the room lacks life on the inside, so I
Peel off to the rooftop where
Clanging sounds of industrial sounds
Swoop and sway, the cityscape, the ballet.
Look to the moon,
Looks close to touch, to hold
Between finger and thumb, one eye open.
The cranes change whats under, on the surface
I'm here so I’ll tell ya, looks whats left
Its empty, not a single place we frequented.
Watch them shift bits of concrete ‘til they drop where they fit
It’s a game of Tetris, no one wins
Sit tight reminisce for your sins.
For now we’ll gaze up at the stars
And those in ivory towers who’ll never
Come down to see these
Feelings reeling us in to burnout.
